Why We Built This
Every town in the Basin has its own newspaper, its own Facebook groups, its own way of sharing what’s going on. But there’s never been one place that connects the whole Basin. No place where you can find out what’s happening in Thermopolis when you’re driving down for a track meet, or discover a great restaurant in Cody before a Walmart run, or keep track of Lovell Mustang Days, Greybull Days of ’49, Powell Homesteader Days, and Cody Stampede all in one place.
Best of the Basin fills that gap. We cover events, businesses, outdoor recreation, food, community stories, and everything that makes the Big Horn Basin worth knowing — across all four counties, every single day.
The 55
Wyoming’s counties are numbered. Big Horn is #9, Park is #11, Hot Springs is #15, and Washakie is #20. Add them together and you get 55. That’s why we call the Basin ‘the 55’ — four counties, one community.
